At Great Barrier Island is the famous Smokehouse Bay anchorage loved by boaties for decades. Dinghy ashore to smoke your fish, have a barbie, do your laundry with several double tub ringer wash basins, two large clothes lines, and especially the wood fired bath tubs, one indoor and the other outdoors. Plenty of seating around the fire pit for sinking brews while sharing a good yarn. There is even a couple of rope swings for the youngsters. The late Eric Webster loved sailing his late 1800’s boat and the friendly races from Auckland to the Barrier with friends. His generous “giving something back” exemplify’s the spirit and comradery often shared amongst the sailing fraternity. Good Karma
