We’ve decided to use our lovely lady JAGA II as our first entry in the “people” catagory. To us she is a living, breathing entity that’s not only our home and magic carpet, but also in a protective manner transports us safely. She has Soul. She inspires a calming confidence with her inherent seaworthy behaviour. Her hull was laid up in fiberglass in ’75 and was completed and launched in ’78. She is a cutter rigged 38′ ” Ingrid “designed by the late William “Billy” Atkin and drew heavily on the Norwegian Redinskoite double ended craft developed by the Vikings. At twelve tons she is a heavy displacement, full keel, aft hung rudder, blue water vessel. Including her bowsprit, boomkin and Aries she is 46′ long. Strongly rigged with bronze chainplates, rigging screws, gudgeons and pintels, her strength is visibly apparent. Obviously not a fast yacht but designed for cruising comfortably. Her warm rich interior is teak and mahogany and we love her.
