Awaiting Wind

Adventures of the Jaga II

Shipping Lane

As we sailed out of the harbour we cut across the bow of this ship anchored awaiting the pilot to board and take them into the harbour. Seems like all sailors fear being run over while travelling thru shipping lanes. Commercial shipping clips along at around 35 knotts while we sail at between four to seven, and neither one is very manueverable  . Hence sailors stand a “watch” scanning the horizon.

You are more able to get out of a ships way than they are . Dont take risks.
